Bundling Up // FLC x Silkstaq

outfit details:
Bethany Mota beanie

As the winds pick up and the temperature drops, I find myself piling on the layers to stay warm. These outfits are my favorite to put together because I can mix textures and prints endlessly. For this outfit, I wore my grey sherpa jacket with this embellished beanie by Bethany Mota. If you haven't heard of Bethany, she runs a Youtube lifestyle channel and also designs her own line at Aeropostale. I love seeing girls work they way up the ladder, especially from online beginnings, so I had to support the line (plus the pieces are amazing)!

I worked with Silkstaq to shoot this outfit, and I'm so excited to share their website with you guys in the coming months!

here is a little bit about their website:

Winter Essentials: Scarves via Net-a-Porter

My Acne Studios Canada scarves have been getting me through the winter this year, and I don't see me putting them away for years to come! They're the best quality wool out there are the perfect size. I chose to get two, one in grey and one in navy, but they have a huge variety of options on Net-a-Porter! Shop some of my favorite scarves here, and scroll down for some outfit ideas! xx

Apartment Tour + Q&A

This is a post I've been wanting to make for months, but my apartment seems to always be a work in progress. I've decided to finally get over the fact that it's never going to stay the same, and share these photos of its current state with you guys! Over the last year I've become increasingly fascinated with interior design and home decor, and the photos I've seen on blogs / in magazines have really shaped my outlook on creating my own space. Hopefully this post can serve as some inspiration for you, as well as a guide to finding great pieces for an affordable price. In preparation for this post I collected questions from my tumblr page regarding all things home / lifestyle / decor, and have answered them below! I love interacting with you guys, and I'd be happy to do more posts like this in the future. Enjoy!xx

Q: What are your favorite things about living alone and how do you make the most out of and decorate your small space?
A: My favorite thing about living alone is definitely the fact that I don't have to be 'on' at all times. I love my friends and family, but sometimes it's hard to be surrounded by people 24/7. Living alone gives me the time I need to recharge. Decorating wise, I made sure to only buy the essentials and skip out on frivolous things; mainly because having an open / minimalist vibe is what makes me feel at home and creative. My apartment has one large room for everything (other than my kitchen and bathroom), so that gave me a cool opportunity to have one obvious color scheme.. I chose white / silver / greys / blues.

Q: Do you have any tips for turning a dorm room into a personalized place? A: Yes, definitely! I lived in a dorm my first year of school, and I won't lie, I didn't like it. However, it is possible to make your dorm room reflect your style. I'd say the biggest thing to focus on is your bedding; try to find a duvet that you adore and some throw pillows that go with it. Additionally you can get some art or string photos along the walls to make it feel like home.

Q: Where do you suggest looking for cool home decor and furniture on a budget?
A: H&M has the best bedding, throw pillows & blankets, storage pieces... everything. I always look there before anywhere else. Furniture wise, I love Wayfair, Ikea, and Amazon too.
Q: I'm not used to being alone... so when you first moved, was that weird for you? How did you adapt to coming home to an empty house?
A: I am lucky enough to live only a train ride away from my parents, so I am never alone for huge periods of time, but it is different from growing up in their home. The biggest change is that all the house responsibilities are mine now (laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning) which can be overwhelming at times. The best thing to do is keep busy and never sit around doing nothing. Also, it's always fun to have friends over!

Q: How did you come up with the color theme for your house and instagram?
A: Over the years I've come across photos, runway shows, colors and textures I've seen that have inspired me, and I tried to find the similarities between them. I love the way bright whites and dark blues look together, and I've always loved mixing textures. I wanted my style to reflect that, and of course my style seeps into the items I choose for my apartment too. My photos are definitely edited to keep a consistent cool-toned, neutral color scheme, too.

Q: Would you recommend living in Boston? What is life like for a college student there?
A: I would definitely recommend it! I love living here so much (yes, even with the crazy winters). Of course everyone looks for different things in a college experience, but I never wanted to feel cooped up in a college town, I wanted to stay in a city where people from all walks of life work and live. There's amazing shopping, museums, and restaurants plus the population is very diverse so you'll never feel out of place. **I'd be happy to do a post on Boston if you guys would like to see that!**
