Trend Report // Buffalo Check

sources left to right: Madewell via pinterest, Isabel Marant via Steven Alan, Urban Outfitters via Pinterest
Plaid is an undeniable autumn wardrobe staple, but this season buffalo plaid in particular is at the forefront of fall collections. From subtle details on sweatshirts to taking over a wool statement coat (like this one from Isabel Marant), I am very excited about how buffalo plaid is putting a twist on the classic borrowed-from-the-boys style.

Here are some of my favorite buffalo plaid pieces, and some ways I'd style them! xx Flo

Fall denim // FLC x Garage Clothing

Back to school season is so bittersweet.. I can't wait for the fall weather to come around again, but I'm already missing the lighter summer schedule and outfits. Last fall Garage Clothing & I teamed up to welcome their new Natick mall store to the Boston area, it was so fun and I got to hang out with some fantastic people and shop their new collection. This year we're back at it and the clothes are better than ever! I've been living in my Garage jeans since then so I knew they would come through this season, and I was right.

These blue ripped skinny jeans fit perfectly and are completely on trend. I chose to pair them with this slouchy v-neck sweater, a definite fall / winter staple of mine. This outfit would be a perfect way to stay comfy at school without having to resort to the sweatpants + sweatshirt 'look' (no judgment, you should have seen my outfit for the SATs).

I barely scratched the surface of all the great Garage fall pieces, so I'll leave more of my favorites below:

Fall Hair Routine // FLC x Bombay Hair

For today's post I teamed up with Bombay Hair to share my hair routine for this upcoming fall! Now that summer is nearing an end, I'm slowly leaving my 'beach waves' in the past and looking forward to straight / sleek, long hair. Here is my step-by-step process of how I use the Bombay titanium iron! Enjoy xx Flo

1. pretty much a no-brainer, but make sure to use a heat protectant spray beforehand. I swear by the Moroccan oil heat styling protection spray. Brush it through with a paddle brush (like this one by Conair) and wait for it to dry.

2. The heat settings all depend on the texture of your hair, mine is a bit stubborn so I turn it up to around 300 degrees.

3. To make sure I don't miss any sections, I put my hair in a half-up, half-down style with a scruchie

4. Carefully, I straighten the bottom section in one-inch pieces (don't hold down for over 10 seconds). Repeat on the top section.

5. When all the sections are done, spray with hair spray to keep the style all day.

Styling Nike Air Max Theas

White sneakers have always been a weakness of mine.. no matter how many pairs I have, there is always a new one I have my eye on. The Nike Air Max Theas are the perfect mix of sporty and street wear, I couldn't pass them up.

Today my friend Melina (@Melinadania on instagram) and I shot some photos at her gorgeous apartment and around Boston. I paired my new Nikes with my go-to Boohoo bomber jacket, white Linea Pelle bag, mirrored sunglasses (sold out, similar pair here), Zara jeans and a distressed black t-shirt.

Baby Blue x White Mini Bag / RS Master Class

This Thursday I was lucky enough to join a small group of blogger-peers at a dinner / presentation at Serafina (a restaurant in the South End of Boston), hosted by Reward Style. RS is a company that partners with bloggers to monatize their content, a tool that has been super helpful to me over the last couple years. I learned a lot about the 'business of blogging' and how to put my best foot forward online, as well as stategic photo-taking and HTML moves! I can't wait to use my new knowledge in all my future blogging, hopefully you guys will enjoy the improvements too.

Outfit wise, I went for a light blue romper from Missguided, one of the best places to get party / dinner pieces. I paired it with some daring (and surprisingly comfortable) gladiator boots and my new favorite bag; the Grayson mini tote by Linea Pelle.

Hello, Suede // FLC trend report

Hi guys! In an attempt to create a more structured blog, I've decided to devote two posts a month to
'trend reports'. Every season there are dozens of trends that takeover the runways, blogs and street style, but my goal is to showcase the trends that are most easily integrated into everyday wear.

Today's post is surrounding suede pieces, arguably the #1 trend for the upcoming season. They have been at the forefront of influential designer collections by Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Topshop Unique, Stella McCartney and more. Pieces that have been traditionally made with tough pebbled leather are given a new breath of life with soft suede.. from moto jackets to ankle boots.

My favorite piece of all is the suede a-line skirt trend.. by adding sheer tights, leather ankle boots and a cropped knit sweater, you can achieve the perfect fall look. I've hand selected my favorite suede (and faux suede for you animal lovers) pieces that are both chic and affordable, as well as styled them.

I hope you enjoy the beginning of this series, let me know what you think of the suede takeover.. are you going to try it or stick to your regular tough leather pieces?
