Barney's Event // #BNYTGIG

This Tuesday I was lucky enough to work with Barney's New York and HerCampus to co-host an event at the BNY Copley store! My co-host was a fellow blogger and friend, Malaysha Hardy. I have admired Lay's style for a long time, I couldn't ask for a better person to share this with. A few days before the event I was able to go in store and meet the Barney's personal shopping team- I mostly shop online so it was a cool experience to see how the customer relationships work there.

I loved so many pieces it was hard to choose what I wanted. On the first floor of the store there are high end designers like Balenciaga and Stella McCartney, some of my favorite brands to look to for inspiration, but usually out of my budget. I wanted to keep the looks true to my style, so I mostly styled pieces from the upstairs "contemporary" section. The pieces up there are more street-style, everyday brands like Re/Done, Off-White, and Alexander Wang.

An exciting part of the event was its focus on graduates- since HerCampus is focused on students, the #BNYTGIG or Barney's New York Thank God it's Graduation concept was all about finding looks for grad parties, ceremonies, and future job interviews. Every grad was able to get $50 off a $250 purchase, and every guest got complimentary gift cards to find the perfect item for them. We also had professional makeup artists to help guests get ready to take their profile photos to put on their LinkedIn pages!

Even though it was terrible weather, lots of new and old friends stopped by to hang out and shop with Lays, the HerCampus and Barney's teams, and me. It was my first time being part of an event in my city- so thank you to everyone who came and made it fun for me! xx Flo

One Pieces for Fall / Styling Ideas

wearing: blue overalls, black off the shoulder top, Falabella chain bag, black loafers
wearing: black overalls, mesh bodysuit, black loafers, round glassesprinted chain bag
wearing: ASOS jumpsuit, Gucci loafers
Overalls and jumpsuits are great for fall- they're super easy to style because they're almost an outfit by themselves, plus they work for almost any occasion. Here are a few outfits I've worn recently with my favorite one pieces, as well as some styling ideas below. I really love pairing them with my favorite shoes of the moment, the Gucci horsebit loafers (more affordable version of the loafers here).

My most worn pair of overalls, a black button up pair, have sadly sold out- but I recently found an almost identical version on for a lot less! Here are some ways I'd style them for fall.

F/W Bags

You don’t always need to spend $1,000+ have a nice designer bag! Here are 6 of my favorite fall bags that look just as luxurious as the Guccis, Givenchys, and YSLs. They’re all neutral so they’re super easy to style with everyday looks, as well as all black going out outfits.

Summer Dresses

Short summer dresses paired with tough ankle boots has been my go-to outfit for these last few weeks of August. They balance each other out and end up making for a cool, relaxed street style outfit. The best part about these dresses is that they can be transitioned easily into fall outfits just by adding tights or over the knee boots and a moto jacket

Everyday Breakfast

Even though these recipes are simple- I have a surprising amount of questions about what food I eat on my tumblr, I so I am going to share them anyway! This one is a staple for me, I look forward to it every morning. When I first started college I would skip breakfast, or have a small granola bar- I thought it was a good way to save time, but I later realized that it took a toll on my energy levels throughout the day.

The old adage about breakfast being the most important meal of the day is true; I eat a lot in the mornings and afternoons to keep me going. Unlike cereal, oats fill me up for a long time and they don't have any added unnatural sugars. I'd definitely recommend trying this out if you haven't, it always puts me in a great mood for the morning.

- combine 3/4 cup of rolled oats + 3/4 cup water in the oven for 15 minutes at 350
- mix in a tablespoon of agave to sweeten
- add one chopped banana + one cup of berries on top
- add two cups of milk (I use unsweetened almond milk because the fruit and agave are already very sweet)

....and that's it- hope this helps!

Hello Fall // my favorite everyday black jeans

I know it's only August, but I'm so tired of summer outfits.. let's just pretend it's fall. Autumn / Winter is my favorite time of year, especially when it comes to fashion. I love boots, coats, jeans, and jackets. For this post, I wanted to put together a couple of my favorite staple A/W items along with sharing my favorite jeans at the moment.

I live in black denim day to day- it's almost a uniform at this point. Until last year, my favorite pair was the Rag&Bone legging jeans. They're super high rise, have the right amount of stretch, and don't fade over time like most black jeans. The only downside to them is the price-point; I wanted to find a pair with the same attributes from a more affordable brand.

On a whim I picked up a pair of the H&M shaping skinny jeans- I didn't expect them to be amazing because they're only $50, but I was pleasantly surprised! They're the same flattering high rise style as my R&B pair, super fitted, and are still jet black after probably 20+ washes. They look great for everyday t-shirt and sneaker outfits, and are great to tuck into over-the-knee boots because they're fitted all the way to the ankle.

Sunday Treats // Peanut Butter Chocolate Nicecream

During the work week I am quite strict about what I eat- having a plan always makes me feel more prepared to tackle my tasks for the day, plus preparing meals at home saves a lot of time and money. I always look forward to Sunday mornings because I'm much more lenient on what I can eat; I have plenty of time to experiment, plus it's my one day where I don't care about making a mess and spending a little extra.

After talking with everyone on Tumblr (link to my blog here), I realized how much we can all learn from each other when it comes to health- I thought I'd share my recipes / experiments on here! I am new to being a vegetarian, I've only been at it since the beginning of 2017 so I'm always up for new recipes and tips.

This specific vegan ice cream or "nice cream" was introduced to me by my friend Sloane; along with being a vegan, she's super savvy when it comes to fashion- check her blog out here! I was inspired to try out this recipe and I absolutely love it. It's super easy to make and definitely satisfies any sugar cravings. Enjoy! xx Flo

1. combine the pb2 powder with almond milk to make a peanut butter mix
(I prefer this to regular peanut butter because it cuts out a lot of the extra fat)

2. put the mix and 2 1/2 of the frozen bananas in the
blender and blend until it's creamy

3. chop up the last 1/2 banana, a cup of blueberries, chia seeds,
and some honey (** to make it fully vegan, substitute honey with agave sweetener) to top it all off!
